Life has been throwing me curve balls!
As I've mentioned before, a lot of my experience with children comes from 3 years of daycare experience. This is what I was doing until end of August... when I got a phone call from a previous employer. They needed a certified teacher to teach the 4-year-old kindergarten program. Catch is, I was called Wednesday, and would need to report for duty on the following Monday! Trust me, my emotions took quite a beating that week. It is hard to leave a job you truely enjoy to start a new adventure.
After getting emergency licensure (I am certified for 6-13 year olds and I'm teaching 4/5 year olds), setting up my classroom, getting to know my wonderful co-teacher, and coming up with a curriculum game plan... life has calmed down a little bit. Financially, this job has been a Godsend, and I'm now getting in a routine. So, I'm back to slowly working on my website.
I have a 3 page list of things I want to accomplish, but I ticked off a couple today and I'll keep working down. My next goal is to dedicate a portion of my page to local customers, and I want to get going with my husband to start up a few my wood-working designs. I need to stop now. Once I get brainstorming, I lose myself... about 48 new ideas just popped into my head. Aye-yi-yi!
I promise to stop being a stranger to my blog! Now to shower, go to the library, grocery shop, develop photos, work on birthday invitations, and prepare my classroom for tomorrow night's open house!

Poor poor little blog
Eek, I wish I was updating this more. Life has been super busy lately, plus Amelia finally has teeth. All you parents out there know what new teeth mean! It hasn't been nearly as awful as it could be, but I hope she's feeling better soon.
Lots and lots has happened at Amelia's Baby Boutique. We're carrying FuzziBunz, Drybees, Rocky Mountain Diapers, Whammies, and Grandma El's. I'm still waiting to hear back from a few more companies, plus I have some other cool things planned. I'm full of ideas and so excited. I just wish I had as much energy!
I now have credit card processing figured out, and tomorrow will be scheduling specific sales and promotions. Now just to get on that advertising thing... that is our next step!

Huge Step!
Website is up! Thanks to Mod Melon for the excellent design :-). Now to wait on those wholesale requests....
Anyway, I just can't believe that this is really happening! I've made so much progress, but it is a little overwhelming when I realize that I've just started and have a long way to go.

We're making progress! I'm thinking my website should be up by the end of the month... how exciting! So far I've put in wholesale requests with:
Burt's Bees
BumGenius
FuzziBunz
And I'm testing out products by Grandma El, and exploring some random kind of products that tickle my fancy. My most exciting news though is that my friend Karleen is interested in designing and creating some dresses, costumes, make-believe clothes, etc. She is a fantastic designer and seamstress. Off to find inspiration ;-)

Exactly what the title says.
Here I am. I am trying something... I do that a lot. My goal is to have Amelia's Baby Boutique up and running by September, or sooner.
I suppose I should lay a little background about myself. I have a degree in elementary education, but not a career directly in my field. Teacher positions can be very competitive in my part of the country. So I keep plugging, with the occasional hit. Sooner or later, or never, or tomorrow, or when God decides it's right. That's what I keep telling myself.
I'm currently a day care teacher, so I teach little people. They are all so smart and special! My job can be so draining and so rewarding, but it just kind of depends on the day. The biggest perk of my job? Being a mom to a young child, I can work and still have my baby girl close. Amelia was born in November of 2008. She is such a joy, and being a parent has taught me so much. She is the inspiration for Amelias Baby Boutique... but I think that was obvious!
These factors help define me and will play an enormous role in my Boutique. As teacher, expect children's literature, resources for parents, and plenty of information. As a mom, expect honesty, care, cloth diapers, breastfeeding support, etc. I'm also hoping to have personalized decor, boutique quality clothing, bath and body gear, gift baskets... we'll just have to see!
Questions? Ideas? What would YOU like to see?
